Climb The Hill

We woke at crack of dawn before cocks crowed
The air was fresh, green nature sent a thrill.
My mum exclaimed " Today we climb the hill ! "
Equipped with food and water we set out.

I looked around me , sleepy lay the world.
Pale mist enhanced the landscape with soft hues.
The glorious sea, the distant mountains blue
beguiled our hearts, relaxed our tortured minds.

We sometimes pause and take a drink or two
and toast to nature with our glasses raised .
Within an hour, we reached the top and gazed
at views surrreal and wide , red sun and sky.

The Dusk

Before me stands the city of Grey Earth
half stuck in soft gloom , defiant and unfenced .
Its steeples rise in silhouettes against
a scene of buildings , roads and old oak trees.

The far horizon takes pleasure to let
a blanket of mist envelop the hills
and decorate the peaks with lacy frills
as dusk invites the feathered friends to sing.

The western sky, a flush of reddish hues
indeed bounces senses , spell-binds our sight.
awhile before the dark  sets in . It's night.
The moon appears above, appoints the sky.

A Chase

I felt the need, the need to hide , to sneak.
I heard a shout, from grassy ground.
With a squeal and a cry
I ran away.

He saw my face and ran towards the peak.
I searched the plain and thought I found
the other spy
across the bay.
